Veronica Den Oudsten (VanderSchee), BA '90 (Sociology), is one of the all-time greats in University of Calgary women's basketball history and was a key member of the record-setting Dinos team in the late 1980s. Still ranked sixth on the team's all-time scoring list with 1,335 points in just 70 games, VanderSchee won the Nan Copp Award as CIS player of the year in both 1988 and 1990 and was named the Dinos female athlete of the year both seasons. Her team went 69 consecutive games without a loss against CIS and NCAA competition, a North American record at the time, and won four consecutive Canada West titles. Topping the list of accomplishments, however, was the 1989 national championship, culminating with a 92-55 win over UPEI in the championship game. VanderSchee was named the championship MVP.
