The first All-Canadian in Dinos men's hockey history, John Jenkins (BA '74) helped deliver the program's first conference championship.
The 1974 Dinos Male Athlete of the Year played a pivotal leadership role on and off the ice for a young roster, helping shape the foundation of the program and a legacy that continues to resonate today.
A three-time conference all-star, Jenkins earned All-Canadian honours in 1974 while serving as team captain. That season proved to be instrumental for the Dinos, bringing home the program's first conference championship. Jenkins led the Dinos to a 2-0 sweep of Alberta in that year's Canada West Final, outscoring them 9-7 over the best-of-three series on home ice.
Jenkins' efforts both on and off the ice were vital in building a winning culture within the Dinos' program, helping laying the ground work that still holds true 60 years later.
His success with the Scarlet & Gold led to multiple professional tryouts, including opportunities with National Hockey League teams.
