Leighann (Doan) Reimer (BGS '99, BEd '01) is one of the record seven BLG Award winners in the University of Calgary history, earning the nod as the top female CIS athlete in 2001. A Nan Copp Award Winner in 2000 and 2001 as the CIS women's basketball player of the year, Reimer was a four-time first team All-Canadian in her career from 1997-2001. Reimer led the Dinos to a CIS bronze medal in her final year after winning the Canada West championship in 2001. The 1997 CIS Rookie of the Year finished her career as the University of Calgary's all-time leading scorer with a total of 1,958 points, averaging 20.8 points per game. Reimer was also a two-time University of Calgary Athlete of the Year and a four-time Academic All-Canadian. In 1999, she was named the City of Calgary's Female Athlete of the Year and captain of the women's basketball Universiade team in Spain. Reimer was also a member of the Canadian women's national team and played professional basketball in France from 2001-04.
