The second inductee in the team category is the 1983 Dinos football team – the first University of Calgary squad to win the Vanier Cup.

The Dinos captured the third Canada West Championship in the program's history in the 1983 season with a record of 6-2, defeating the UBC Thunderbirds 21-12 to win the Hardy Cup. They went on to the Vanier Cup where they defeated Queen's 33-23, with Tim Petros named the game MVP.

Greg Vavra, already part of the Dinos Hall of Fame and still a record holder for a number of categories in the Dinos record books, quarterbacked the Dinos that season and won the Hec Crighton Trophy as the outstanding player in the nation. Also suiting up for the Dinos that season, Tony Spoletini was named the Canada West Rookie of the Year and Dave Fordyce earned the Canada West Lineman of the Year title. The team had three first team All-Canadians, including Vavra, Fordyce and Wade Buteau, and seven Canada West All-Stars.
