Hall of Fame
A true pioneer in his field, Dale Butterwick's nomination drew support from across the profession. Dale served as the head athletic therapist for the Dinos from 1984-2004, along the way increasing the support for student-athletes from 0.5 full-time positions to 2.5. He was also a faculty member in Kinesiology from 1984-2013, developing the athletic therapy major program that has become the envy of universities across the nation. He was head therapist for the Dinos football team, helping them to Vanier Cup titles in 1985, 1988, and 1995, and he started the Sport Therapy Service as a revenue source for the AT program.
Away from the University of Calgary, Dale served as chief therapist for the host medical team at the Calgary-hosted 1988 Olympic Winter Games. In 1996, he was chief therapist for the Canadian medical team at the Atlanta Olympic Games. His other passion is rodeo, and from 1984-2013 he was founder, president, and coordinator of the Canadian Pro-Rodeo Sport Medicine Team. Dale is the first medical representative in the Dinos Hall of Fame.
