A life-long Calgarian, sports were what brought Ross Collett (BComm '69) to the newly independent University of Calgary.
The four-year mainstay on the football field, Collett quickly helped set the tone for what a Dinos football player was in the program’s earliest days. He was the first Dino to be named the UCalgary Male Athlete of the Year award twice – something only achieved by eight total individuals in the university’s 60 years.
The defensive lineman was a force on the gridiron for the Dinos. He was one of the first four conference all-stars in program history back in 1968. One year later, Collett was drafted in the fourth round of the 1969 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders.
