In a game seen live across western Canada on Shaw TV, Deke Junior led an offensive explosion for the University of Calgary Dinos Saturday afternoon, leading them to their first Hardy Cup title since 1995 and booking a trip to face Laval in the Uteck Bowl next Sunday.
Junior had the best performance of his young CIS career, completing 20 of 28 passes for 325 yards and four touchdowns. He was picked off just once and added 20 yards rushing on six carries. He posted season highs in completions, passing yards, and touchdown passes as the Dinos exploded for 539 yards of total offence – also a season-best performance.
With their ninth Canada West football championship in tow, the Dinos head east to face the Laval Rouge et Or next Sunday, Nov. 16 in the Uteck Bowl. The game goes at PEPS Stadium on the Université Laval campus at 10:00 a.m. MST (noon EST) and will be broadcast live on The Score, RDS and The FAN 960.
