Fifth-year Dinos captain Brock Nixon is well on his way to a career-best season with 19 points through the first 16 games – thanks to a five-point outburst in the Dinos’ two-game sweep of Lethbridge last weekend.
Nixon, the former Kamloops Blazer and Calgary Hitman, picked up a pair of assists in Thursday’s 10-1 whitewash of the Pronghorns Two nights later, he picked up the natural hat trick with his seventh, eighth, and ninth goals of the season as the Dinos wrapped up the sweep with a 4-0 win on the road in Lethbridge.
The weekend moved him into fifth in the conference scoring race, with two games in hand on three of the four players in front of him. More importantly, it sends the Dinos into the December break with some momentum and a 9-7-0 record, one point back of the fourth and final playoff spot in the conference.
Calgary returns to the ice Jan. 4-5 on the road at UBC.
