CALGARY – Rowyn James of the University of Calgary Dinos has been named the Canada West BioSteel Athlete of the Week for women's soccer, the league office announced Tuesday.
The third-year kinesiology student-athlete has played every minute for the Dinos through their perfect four-game start to the Canada West season, registering two assists as Calgary posted a pair of home wins this past weekend. James delivered a pinpoint ball into the box for
Danica Pullishy in Friday's 2-1 home win over the Alberta Pandas, then repeated the feat Sunday, finding the head of
Sofia DiGiacomo to help the Dinos to a 2-0 home win over the MacEwan Griffins.
The Dinos now sit tied atop the Canada West Prairie Division with a 4-0 record through four games.
It marks the first Canada West BioSteel Athlete of the Week honour of James's career. The Calgary product was named to the 2024 Canada West All-Rookie Team.
Calgary now travels to Saskatoon to take on the Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday at noon MT, before facing the Regina Cougars on Sunday at noon MT to close out the weekend. The game can be seen live on Canada West TV powered by BioSteel.
