The University of Calgary Dinos wrestling teams are back in action one final time this calendar year, once again hitting the road for two days of action down in Lethbridge.

The first U SPORTS wrestling rankings of the year came out this week, and the Dinos women's program was once again ranked tops in the nation. Calgary was ranked No. 1 two times last season and nearly the whole year during the 2023-24 campaign, showing just how dominant they have been in recent years. Calgary's men's team checked in at No. 3 in Canada in the first rankings of the year. Although they're routinely one of the top-10 programs in Canada, starting the year third is a noteworthy jump from recent years and a nod to the success long-time head coach Mitch Ostberg and assistant Carol Huynh have put in with the group.

After the break, Calgary will return to the mat one more time Jan. 16-17 at Alberta before returning to Edmonton Feb. 14 for this year's Canada West Championships.

The 2025-26 season officially gets underway for the Dinos track & field program this weekend, hosting the annual Dino Opener inside the Jack Simpson Gym on Sunday.

Calgary is coming off yet another strong season that saw them once again finish as Canada West runners-up on the women's side before placing fifth in the final team standings at nationals. Sienna MacDonald stole the headlines with her two U SPORTS records at last year's nationals and the Airdrie, Alta. product returns for her fifth year in the Scarlet & Gold.

In addition to a host of standouts returning for another season with the Dinos, Calgary also welcomes 18 newcomers to this year's roster.

The Dinos will waste no time in getting right back into action in the new year, hitting the track Jan. 3 for their first of three meets in Edmonton.
