The No. 4 University of Calgary Dinos women's basketball team is back home for the annual Pack The Jack event, hosting Winnipeg for two games inside the Jack Simpson Gym. Friday's contest at 6 p.m. also tips off this year's Pack The Jack night - with fan giveaways, fan contests, and more on the docket for the weekend opener. The two teams will battle again Saturday at 4 p.m.

Calgary stayed unbeaten last weekend, moving to 6-0 in league play and 12-0 overall with a sweep of UFV. It was a weekend highlighting the Dinos' defence, holding the Cascades to just 35 points in the opener before conceding just 53 points in the finale. Through six games, Calgary is averaging allowing just 54.2 points per game, ranking them sixth in Canada West and 10th in the nation.

The Dinos are once again getting things done by committee, as Pollyanna Storie leads the team in scoring average with 12.5 points per game. But, five different players average at least 9.0 points per contest, including Amelie Collin - who heads into the weekend just six steals shy of breaking the program record for career steals. The fifth-year guard enters Friday's game with 248 career steals, while Dinos Hall of Famer Leighann Doan's record of 253 has stood since 2001.

Winnipeg comes to town with a 2-3 record and is coming off a bye. Last time out, the Wesmen were swept by Mount Royal at home. Winnipeg is 0-3 at home and 2-0 on the road, winning a pair at MacEwan back at the start of the month. Fourth-year guard Raia Guinto is the leader of this team in the early going, averaging a team-high 15.0 points/game.

Calgary is 8-2 in its last 10 conference games against Winnipeg. The two teams met in the Duckworth Centre a season ago where the Dinos won by 18 and 32 in a weekend sweep. The Dinos and Wesmen also faced off in this year's preseason, with Calgary walking away with a 70-47 win in B.C.

The Dinos hoops team (4-2) is also home this weekend, hosting Winnipeg (3-2) for two games. Friday's Pack The Jack tip time is scheduled for 8 p.m., while Saturday's rematch is set for 6 p.m. Both games are set to take place following the women's games.

Calgary is coming off a weekend split with UFV in which they scored a season-high 105 points in Friday's 26-point win before shooting an ice-cold 28.4% from the floor. That is the worst shooting percentage in a conference game for Dan Vanhooren's squad nearly three years when they shot 29.4 percent in a 73-57 loss at Regina back on Feb. 3, 2023.

The Dinos were without starting point guard Daniels Baumanis in that game and lost point guard Beckett Johnson in the first half.

Winnipeg heads into the weekend at 3-2. The team is coming off a bye and split a pair of one-point decisions at home against Mount Royal last time out Nov. 7-8.

Calgary and Winnipeg have had a number of memorable battles in recent years with both squads sitting near the top of Canada West for a while now. Last season, the two teams split a weekend series in the Duckworth Centre. The Dinos are 8-2 in the last 10 conference battles, with the Wesmen last coming to Calgary back in early 2023 which say them win by two in overtime in the opener before a 17-point Calgary win the next night.

The No. 2 team in the nation is on the road once again as the Dinos men's hockey team (12-2) is off to Winnipeg to take on Manitoba (4-5-1) for two games inside Wayne Fleming Arena. Friday's opener is set for a 6 p.m. MT start, while Saturday's puck drop is slated to start at 4 p.m. MT.

One weekend after two big comeback wins over Saskatchewan in a heavyweight battle, the Dinos needed no comeback effort last weekend in a sweep of Trinity Western, winning 6-0 and 8-2 in truly dominant fashion. The new-look Dinos continue to find contributions from all over the ice, with Kaiden Bugera and Pavel Bocharov each netting their first U SPORTS goals last weekend. That brings Calgary's total up to 19 different goal scorers through the first 14 games.

Manitoba comes into the weekend at 4-5-1. They are coming off a bye weekend after getting swept up West Division-leading UBC, 8-1 and 7-4.

This already marks the second trip to Manitoba for the Dinos this season, winning 4-0 and 5-4 back on Oct. 17-18. In the second game, Calgary raced out to a 4-1 lead only to uncharacteristically surrender three third-period goals before Adam Kydd – the nation's leading point scorer – netted the winner with 2:31 remaining.

Fresh off their weekend sweep of No. 9 Trinity Western, the Dinos women's hockey team (9-3-2) is on home ice once again this coming weekend, hosting Manitoba (1-5-4) Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Both games will take place inside Father David Bauer Arena.

It was a big win on Saturday for Calgary. The Dinos continued their trend of winning the opener with a 3-2 OT win over TWU this past Friday - keeping them perfect in weekend openers at 7-0 now. But they had finished off the weekend sweep just one time prior to this past Saturday before downing the Spartans 2-0 to improve to 9-3-2 – one game shy of Mount Royal for the division lead.

Sydney Mercier grabbed the headlines with a four-point weekend, netting the OT game winner on Friday before adding an insurance goal on Saturday. However, the play of Calgary's goaltenders cannot be overlooked. Amelia Awad is an incredible 7-1 on the year with a sterling 0.88 goals-against average. She has a 0.969 save percentage and has conceded just seven goals all year to go with two shutouts. This past weekend, rookie Alyssa Barrette made her U SPORTS debut and picked up the shutout win while making 19 saves. Fellow first-year Maisie Cope also has done well so far, owning a 1.58 goals-against average in five starts.

It's been a tough start to the season for the Bisons, picking up just one win (against Regina in the season opener) as they near the halfway point of their season. Manitoba is coming off a bye, last taking the ice at UBC where they fell 2-0 and 3-2.

The Bisons visited FDB just over one month ago, with Calgary picking up wins by scores of 3-0 and 5-2.

After another week off, Calgary's women's volleyball team (2-4) is back in action as they head to Winnipeg to take on the Wesmen (1-5). Friday's opening match is set for a 5 p.m. MT start, while Saturday's rematch is scheduled for a 5:45 p.m. MT start following the men's contest.

The Dinos are looking to get back in the win column this weekend. The team split with both MacEwan and Manitoba to start the season before being swept by Trinity Western last time out. Calgary has nine newcomers on this year's squad with a handful already making a big impact. First-year outside hitter Kalyssa Komori ranks second on the team in kills, while fifth-year transfer Ashley Ditchfield is second thus far in blocks.

It's been a tough go so far for Winnipeg, starting the year at 1-5. The Wesmen split with Regina in the season-opening series before being swept by Trinity Western and Saskatchewan the last two times out.

A season ago, the Dinos' season came to an end in the Canada West Play-In series in Winnipeg. That marks seven consecutive wins in either regular-season or postseason action for the Wesmen over the Dinos. Calgary's last conference win the series came back on Feb. 7, 2020 in the Duckworth Centre.

The Dinos men's volleyball squad (2-4) is also off for two road games against Winnipeg (2-4). Friday's first serve is set for 6:45 p.m. MT following the women's match, while Saturday's bout will take place at 4 p.m. MT to start the action inside the Duckworth Centre.

Calgary will look to get back on track. The Dinos opened the season by winning six of the first seven sets in a weekend sweep of MacEwan. Since then, however, they dropped two on the road to Manitoba and Trinity Western.

Winnipeg comes into the weekend tied with Calgary in the standings at 2-4, also opening the season with two wins as they swept past UFV before falling 3-1, 3-1 against Trinity Western and 3-1, 3-2 at Saskatchewan last weekend.

The Dinos are 6-4 in their last 10 conference games against the Wesmen but have dropped the last four in the head-to-head series. Calgary's last win over Winnipeg came on Jan. 14, 2023 with a 3-0 sweep.
