"Our mission is to develop leaders through sport, and the statistics are clear: the vast majority of women in C-suite leadership positions have a sport background," stated Dinos Director of Athletics
Ben Matchett. "We want to remove barriers and make the University of Calgary the destination for the very best women's student-athletes in Canada."
Since 1964, Dinos women's teams have been among the most successful in Canada, capturing 68 Canada West championships, 22 U SPORTS national titles and producing 29 Olympians, who together have earned eight Olympic medals. These achievements place UCalgary among the nation's leaders in women's sport.
The Women in Sport Scholarship Breakfast builds on that legacy by strengthening support for women student-athletes and ensuring UCalgary remains a destination of choice for top female competitors across the country.
"While we have made significant strides in the support of women's sport, the work isn't finished, and this breakfast will kickstart a new era in women's athletics at UCalgary," Matchett added.
Proceeds from the breakfast will support the Dinos Women in Sport Scholarship Fund, helping student-athletes pursue academic and athletic excellence without financial compromise.
