Dinos look to carry momentum against Vikes

| By:
CALGARY – Looking to build on their momentum from the opening weekend, the Dinos field hockey team wraps up its 2017 home schedule this weekend as they host the University of Victoria Vikes at Hawkings Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Sunday is the Dinos Red Rising 'hype game' – with a free pancake breakfast for everyone in attendance.

The Dinos performed quite well during the first home games of the season last week against UBC. Despite the loss in both games, a strong fight with impressive performances by Dinos team members will carry forward through the rest of the season.

Newcomer Madison Arbuckle was a great asset to the team, displaying strong skill in goal. Additionally, the Dinos welcomed Emily Tollafield, Kelsie Volek, Jen Wishart, Rene Watson, Kenzie McMillan-Harrington, Emily Smith, and  Madison MacMillan

Prominent returning players include goalkeeper Ingrid Ulrich, captain Marion Arnott, and 2015 CIS rookie and 2016 Canada West field hockey all star team member Sabrina Wong. Returning forward player Jenna Bower and midfielder Chloe Keeler-Young scored the team's only goals last week against UBC.

This will be the third year as head coach of the Dinos for Peter Taylor who believes there will be positive prospects for this season due to the rigorous and intensive training the girls received, "I feel more confident about next week as we've had these two good games."

After this weekend, the Dinos will make consecutive trips to Vancouver and Victoria Oct. 14-15 and Oct. 21-22, respectively, to wrap up the 2017 Canada West schedule.
