CALGARY – Defenceman
Sean Strange of the University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team has taken the next step in his career, signing a professional contract with the Rapid City Rush.
The Victoria, B.C., product becomes the latest Dino to make the jump to the professional ranks, joining
Adam Kydd in the ECHL.
A steady presence on Calgary's blue line over the past five seasons, Strange excelled offensively during the 2025-26 campaign, recording four goals and 19 assists for 23 points to match a career high.
Strange appeared in 118 career regular-season games with the Dinos, tallying 15 goals and 53 assists for 68 points. His +64 plus-minus rating ranks first among Calgary skaters since the statistic began being tracked in 2005, and he was a member of the Dinos' 2023 Canada West championship team.
The Rush, who compete in the ECHL's Mountain Division, currently hold a 27-34-5-1 record and are affiliated with the Calgary Flames.
