CALGARY – University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey goaltender
Carl Stankowski is heading overseas after signing a professional contract with the Dundee Stars of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom.
Stankowski returned to form after battling through an injury-shortened 2024-25 season, bouncing back in 2025-26 to earn Canada West Second Team All-Star honours in his final campaign as a Dino. The Calgary native led the team with 16 starts – a career high – and ranked second in the conference in save percentage at 0.910 and third in goals-against average at 2.30. He finished with a 10-4-1 record, tying his career high in wins, while racking up a pair of shutouts.
Over five seasons with the Dinos, Stankowski appeared in 47 regular season games, posting a .911 save percentage and recording three shutouts. He was a key member of the 2023 Canada West championship team, part of a goaltending trio that allowed the fewest goals in the regular season and earned the Dinos the first of three Adam Kryczka Memorial Trophies, claimed again in 2023-24 and 2025-26. The Second Team All-Star nod was his second conference honour, having been named to the All-Rookie team following the 2021-22 season.
Stankowski becomes the second Dino to join Dundee for the coming season, alongside defenceman
Sean Strange, who signed his professional contract with the club earlier this month.
