The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team is off to the Canada West Final Four. Calgary will go up against Trinity Western Thursday at 7:30 p.m. MT from Ken Woods Field on the UBC campus. The winner of that game not only advances to Friday's conference championship, they also punch their ticket to nationals.
After a thrilling 1-0 home win over Victoria this past Friday in the quarterfinals, the Dinos are off to the Final Four for the second straight year and the fifth time in the last seven seasons. Calgary will go up against a Trinity Western looking to exercise some demons, as the Spartans have knocked the Dinos out of the playoffs each of the past three seasons (2022: 2-1 in U SPORTS Consolation Semifinal; 2023: 1-1 (3-4 PKs) in Canada West Quarterfinal; 2024: 3-2 in Canada West Bronze-Medal Game).
Calgary finished the regular season with an 11-1-2 conference record to finish atop the Prairie Division standings. Meanwhile, Trinity Western wrapped up the conference slate with a 10-3-1 mark for second in the Pacific Division.
The winner of Thursday's contest will go up against the winner of Mount Royal vs. UBC. That game is set to kick off three hours prior to the Dinos/Spartans showdown from the same field.
The Dinos have two Canada West banners in women's soccer program history, with the most recent coming in 2019.
Dinos Men's Hockey (6-2)

Saturday, Nov. 1 | Calgary vs. MacEwan | Father David Bauer Arena | 7:00 PM | Watch | Live Stats
The sixth-ranked Dinos men's hockey team (6-2) will look to keep things rolling as they have their second consecutive home-and-home in Edmonton, taking on MacEwan (4-3-1) Friday in Edmonton before returning home Saturday. Both games are slated to start at 7 p.m.
Calgary suffered just its second loss of the season last Friday at Alberta and showed impressive resilience with a big 5-1 bounce-back win over the Golden Bears in Saturday's rematch. As has been their way all season, five different Dinos scored in Saturday's convincing win. 15 Calgary players now have at least one goal through eight games this season, with rookie Hayden Pakkala leading the way with five.
The Dinos have the best record in Canada West thus far at 6-2 and are up to No. 6 in this week's U SPORTS rankings despite a massive roster turnover from last year's playoff team.
MacEwan has been steadily improving as a program in recent years and sits at 4-3-1 through the first four weeks. Calgary suffered its first ever conference loss to the Griffins last year in a weekend split. All-time, the Dinos still hold a 12-1 record in Canada West action against MacEwan.

It's a rare Thursday-Friday seires for the Dinos women's hockey team (5-3) as they have a home-and-home against MacEwan this weekend. Calgary returns to Edmonton for the second time in six days for a 7 p.m. game before Friday's rematch at 6 p.m. from Father David Bauer Arena.
The Dinos are off to a 5-3 start to the season one year after finishing 8-18-2. While Calgary has been getting timely goals, it has been dominant defence and goaltending by the Scarlet & Gold powering them to their early record. Fourth-year goalie Amelia Awad is 4-1 in net, thus far, allowing just two goals for a 0.40 goals-against average to go with a .986 save percentage. In fact, of the 12 goals conceded by Calgary so far this year, four have been empty netters and just six have come at even strength.
MacEwan comes into the weekend at 1-6-1, being outscored 21-7 through its first eight games. Calgary split last year's two games against the Griffins, falling 3-0 in Edmonton before winning 5-1 at home. The Dinos are 8-2 head-to-head in the last 10 conference games with MacEwan.

Manitoba comes into the weekend still looking for their first win of the year at 0-4. The Bisons dropped its opening series against a 2-0 UBCO squad before being swept by preseason favourite UBC this past weekend. The 'Herd were picked fourth in this year's preseason poll after going 9-11 a season ago. Last year, the Dinos and Bisons split a weekend series in Calgary in the opening conference weekend of the year.

The Dinos split their season-opening series with MacEwan two weeks ago and were on bye last weekend. Reigning Canada West Rookie of the Year Sophia Hansen led the way in both games and already sits 12th in the conference in kills per set at 3.33.
Manitoba also sits at 1-1 on the year after splitting with UBC at home last weekend in an early heavyweight battle between two of the four teams to receive a first-place vote in the preseason coaches' poll. The reigning U SPORTS gold medallists finished last season 16-4 in Canada West action, claiming bronze in the conference playoffs before dropping just two sets in taking down Saint Mary's, UBC and Montreal for the program's first national title.
Calgary handed Manitoba split a pair of five setters in the Jack Simpson Gym to start last season. Despite the Bisons' recent run of success, the Dinos are 8-2 in the last 10 conference games, head-to-head.

That continues an incredible run that has seen the Dinos finish in the top three in the conference every season under head coach Mike Blondal, who now enters his 32nd year leading the Scarlet & Gold. Blondal has guided the Dinos to 15 Canada West titles and nine U SPORTS banners during his incredible run.
The Dinos return a large portion of last year's roster, while adding some significant rookies to this year's squad.
