CALGARY – Running at their home course at nearby Canmore Park, the University of Calgary Dinos cross country team once again claimed the Stewart Cup Saturday afternoon.
For the third time int he last four years, the Dinos downed provincial rival Alberta on both the men's and women's side in head-to-head action to claim the annual Stewart Cup – the traveling trophy battled for between the two rival provincial schools every year in memory of Brian and Gerry Stewart.
This year's race once again featured a full Canada West field, with eight conference teams represented on the day. Calgary's women's squad finished fourth overall, with the men's team battling to a fifth-place finish in a very tight race.

Chloe Turner was the top provincial runner on the day to set the tone for the team. The third year crossed the line 11th overall in 29:47. 2024 all-rookie selection
Sophie Jensen was next up for the Scarlet & Gold with a time of 30:36 for 18th - one spot ahead of newcomer
Jenna Conrad at 30:53 for 19th.
Amaia Ervin-Arambarri was next at 31:51 for 33rd, while rookie
Meagan Smith rounded out the scoring at 37th with a time of 32:20.
Braden Foley turned in a strong performance on the men's side to lead Calgary with a fifth-place finish in 25:51, just ahead of teammate
Ethan Meyer in eighth at 25:59.
Max Cook was up next in 26:44 for 28th, while
Sam Prezio (26:49 / 34th) and
Edward Healy (27:00 / 43rd) wrapped up the Dinos' top-five.
Calgary now will prepare for the 2025 Canada West Championships, hosted this year by the University of Victoria on Saturday, Oct. 25 from the Royal Roads University campus.
