CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men's and women's cross-country teams put together a strong showing Saturday at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Running Room Grand Prix Series Race No. 2, highlighted by
Jenna Conrad's victory in the women's 8k race.
Conrad broke the tape in 32:28, finishing 1:12 ahead of NAIT's Brynn Hebert, the top ACAC finisher.
Chloe Turner was fifth in 34:24, one second behind Concordia University of Edmonton's Ashlee Walker, the reigning ACAC champion.
Elsa Ben Hamou-Kuijpers followed in sixth (34:44), with
Meagan Smith (eighth / 35:22),
Lauren Westlake (11th / 35:44),
Marcail Philp (12th / 35:51) and
Eloisa Castillo (16th / 36:57) also running for Calgary. The Dinos placed six of the top 12 finishers in a field of 27.
On the men's side,
Ethan Meyer led the Dinos with a sixth-place finish in 28:47 in the 8k race, while
Max Cook was seventh in 29:04.
Niklas Scherer (ninth / 29:16) and
Quinn Schulz (10th / 29:18) gave Calgary four of the top 10 finishers.
Edward Healy (14th / 29:36) and
Kai Deausy (25th / 30:45) also ran for the Scarlet & Gold. SAIT's Nathan Woyessa won the race in 26:59.
In open team scoring, which ranks teams by overall placing, the Dinos women totalled 20 points on their top four finishers, well ahead of Concordia University of Edmonton's 41. The men's top four scored 32 points, with the next-best total at 50.
The Dinos will return to action Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Vancouver for the Western Canadian Challenge, with their race scheduled for 1 p.m. MT. Calgary will also host the 2026 Canada West Cross Country Championships on Oct. 31 at St. Mary's University.
