CALGARY – The Calgary Dinos women's hockey team will open the 2024-25 season at home, the Canada West office announced Tuesday with the complete release of this coming year's conference slate.
This year's schedule will follow the format changes announced by the conference last October. Both men's and women's hockey will now feature two divisions consisting of four and five teams each, with the divisions rotating through nine teams over six years. Games will be played both in and out of division. This year will see TWU, UBC, Calgary and Mount Royal make up one division, while Alberta, MacEwan, Saskatchewan, Regina and Manitoba will comprise the other.
The Dinos will open the 2024-25 season on home ice, hosting defending champion UBC Oct. 4-5. Calgary will then head east to Saskatchewan – the site of last year's playoff series win for the Dinos – to take on the Huskies Oct. 11-12.
The first installment of the Crowchild Classic is up next as the Dinos have a home-and-home with crosstown rival Mount Royal Oct. 18-19 before closing out the opening month at Trinity Western.
November kicks off with back-to-back home series against Regina (Nov. 8-9) and UBC (Nov. 15-16) before trips to Manitoba (Nov. 22-23) and Trinity Western (Nov. 29-30).
The New Year opens with a pair of rivalry series, playing home-and-home weekend series with Mount Royal (Jan. 3-4) and Alberta (Jan. 10-11). After a week off, the Dinos will host TWU Jan. 24-25 before the third and final Crowchild Classic series of the season the following week.
A home-and-home weekend with MacEwan (Feb. 7-8) and a trip to UBC (Feb. 14-15) close out this year's regular season.
The top three teams in each division advance to the playoffs, with the top seed in each division receiving a first-round bye. The best-of-three quarterfinal round will take place Feb. 21 to 23 and will see East #2 host West #3 and West #2 host East #3. Semifinals will follow Feb. 28 to March 2.
The 2025 U SPORTS national championships are headed east, with Waterloo hosting the women's event from March 20-23.
