Turner shines on global stage

CALGARY – Competing against the world's best cross country runners on the sport's biggest stage, University of Calgary Dinos rookie Chloe Turner continued to shine this past weekend with a strong finish at the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

Turner – who won the Canadian Cross Country Championships back in November – battled the heat and finished with time of 21:46 in the U20 race, good for 32nd overall out of the field of nearly 100 runners.

Not only was she the top Canadian in her race, but she had the top placement of any male or female Canadian at this year's world championships.

This marks the latest in a lengthy list of impressive accolades for the Dinos rookie from Calgary. In her first semester, Turner was named the Canada West Rookie of the Year after finishing runner up at the conference meet. She transitioned that into an outstanding first season on the track at the university level, being named the Canada West and U SPORTS Rookie of the Year, bringing home a conference title and a national silver medal – both in the 3000m.
