Daniel punches ticket to Paris 2024

CALGARY – Former University of Calgary cross country standout Stefan Daniel will once again compete on the world's biggest stage as he was officially named to the 2024 Paralympic Team for Team Canada.

This will mark the third Paralympic Games for the five-time world champion in para triathlon, after winning a silver medal at Rio 2016 and a bronze at Tokyo 2020.

"Going to multiple games is something I didn't expect growing up, and I'll never take it for granted," Daniel said on his social media channel following the official announcement of this year's team. "Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 gave me lifelong memories, and I'm excited to see what Paris 2024 will bring. Thanks to everyone who's been a part of this journey, I'll give my best for all of you!"

Daniel capped his incredible Dinos career in 2021, helping the Scarlet & Gold wrap up one of the most incredible runs in program history. In his five years on campus, Daniel helped the Dinos cross country squad claim two national championships, one national runner-up finish and three conference titles – finishing in the top three as a team all five years.

The 2015 Canada West Rookie of the Year and 2019 CW Athlete of the Year is scheduled to race on Sept. 1.
