CAMROSE, Alta. –
Max Cook finished as a Second Team All-Star to lead the way for the Calgary Dinos at the 2024 Canada West Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at Stoney Creek Park in Camrose.
The conference honour is the second for Cook, who was named to the all-rookie team back in 2022.
The third year from nearby Chestermere, Alta., turned in his best performance of the year, crossing the line in 26:25.7 to pace the way for the Dinos.
Newcomer
Jason Ushko was next up for the Scarlet & Gold, placing 25th overall in 26:58.9.
Ethan Meyer (27:09.2) and
Edward Healy (27:10.2) finished neck and neck, while
Braden Foley rounded out the scoring in 27:23.4.
On the women's side, a trio of Dinos were named to the Canada West All-Rookie squad following the busy day.
Sophie Jensen,
Csenia Irvin and
Natalie Selvage all earned their way onto the five-person all-rookie team after continuing their strong first collegiate seasons.
Jensen paced all Dinos and crossed the line in 32:10.9 to score 23rd at her first conference meet. Second years
Amaia Ervin-Arambarri (32:23.8) and
Chloe Turner (33:19.9) were next for the Scarlet & Gold, before Irvin (33:33.9) and Selvage (34:10.9) closed out this year's top-five finishers.
