CALGARY – On a picture-perfect fall day, the Calgary Dinos cross country team once again brought home the Stewart Cup at Saturday's competition just east of campus at Canmore Park.
The annual race between Alberta and Calgary featured a full Canada West field this year, with 10 conference teams represented, in addition to a number of area colleges.
The Dinos women finished fifth overall and the men sixth, edging out the Golden Bears and Pandas by a combined score of 248-285.
In the first full team race of the year for the Scarlet & Gold,
Chloe Turner led all Calgary runners by scoring 16th on the women's side with an 8k time of 28:55.
Amaia Ervin-Arambarri was second for the Dinos and placed 20th in 29:05, while rookie
Sophie Jensen was 25th in 29:32.
On the men's side, graduate transfer
Jason Ushko paced the pack with a time of 24:33 for 18th overall.
Braden Foley (24:59) was close behind for 23rd and
Ethan Meyer (25:03) placed 25th out of the nearly 100 runners on the day.
The Dinos will now turn their attention to the 2024 Canada West Championships, hosted this year by Alberta in Edmonton on Saturday, Oct. 26.
