VICTORIA – The University of Victoria defeated the University of Calgary, 6-0, Sunday morning on Lynne "Buzz" Beecroft Field.
The Vikes move to 4-0-2 on the year with the win, while the Dinos close their season with an 0-8-0 mark.
Victoria took the lead in the first minute of play, with Chloe Langkammer finding the back of the net for the 1-0 Vikes lead. The Dinos' corner defence would hold strong through two penalty corners awarded to UVic in the first period, and the first period ended with the home side up 1-0.
The Dinos nearly got on the board on a penalty corner opportunity in the 22nd minute. The ball deflected off a Vike defender's stick towards the net and
Elisa Johnson, who nearly got a shot off before Libby Hogg made contact and cleared the ball away, keeping Calgary scoreless.
Calgary held the Vikes to just one goal in each of the second and third quarters, making Victoria's lead 3-0 after 45 minutes of play.
Victoria added goals in the 52nd, 59th, and 60th minutes to bring the final score to 6-0 in favour of the home side.
