Red-Hot Dinos set to battle Griffins

CALGARY – After kicking off the new year with a win against the Ukrainian U25 National Team, the No. 2 ranked University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team (15-3) will look to extend their 13-game win streak as they take on the MacEwan Griffins (6-10) in a home-and-home this weekend.

Calgary will host the first game on Friday night at Father David Bauer Arena, beginning at 7 p.m., and action will resume Saturday at 5 p.m. when the Griffins host Calgary at Edmonton's Downtown Community Arena. Both games can be seen on Canada West TV.

2. O CAPTAIN! – Dinos' team captain Noah King provided the game-winner against the Saskatchewan Huskies in December, pushing the Dinos' win streak to 13 games with a 3-2 win over the Huskies to close out the first semester. Later this month, King and men's hockey head coach Mark Howell will travel to Lake Placid, New York for the 2023 FISU (International University Sports Federation) Winter World University Games.

3. LEADING THE CHARGE – With an impressive 21 points, Riley Stotts leads the Dinos after accumulating four goals and 17 assists during the first semester of action. The second-year forward has managed at least one point in the last eight games played and is ranked tied for fifth in the conference in total assists.

4. BETWEEN THE PIPESCarl Tetachuk was the backbone for the Dinos during the first half of the Canada West season and was named the WHL Grad of the Month for November. The first-year Calgary netminder has impressed with an 8-0 record and two shutouts while posting a 1.63 goals-against-average and 0.934 save percentage since Nov. 1.

5. GRIFFIN TO WATCH – Dressing up for the Griffins this weekend will be Neithan Salame. Salame currently leads the team from Edmonton in points, picking up 11 points in 16 games.
