*NOTE: Following the conclusion of Saturday's second day of action, officials overturned the disqualification of the Dinos men's 400m freestyle relay team. The Dinos won the event with a time of Canada West-record time 3:17.30, giving them 40 more points on the night. Going into the final day, Calgary's men sit in first place with 595.5 points, with UBC in second with 528 points.
LETHBRIDGE – The University of Calgary Dinos men maintained their lead in the point standings and the women are hanging tough in second to the UBC Thunderbirds after two championship records and a 14-medal haul highlighted the second night of action for the Dinos the CW Championships in Lethbridge.
With heartbreak at the end of the session where the Dinos men's 400 freestyle relay was disqualified, they are still leading the standings with 555.5 points, ahead of UBC's 534, while the UCalgary women sit just under 100 points behind the Thunderbirds at 590-493.5.

Starting the night off with a bang,
Rebecca Smith blasted a 25.10 to touch first to win the women's 50 freestyle ahead of Dinos teammate
Eliza Housman picking up her first CW hardware in a new personal best time of 25.78. Smith's time eclipsed the previous championship record of 25.12 set four years ago by UBC's Hoi Lam Tam. Rookie
Julianne Moore finished just shy of the podium in fourth and
Sarah Corson rounded out the A-final, touching 8th for the Dinos.
Sprinter
Daniel Boguski answered on the men's side claiming his first CW gold in the men's 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 22.66 and was joined on the podium by teammate
Stephen Calkins, who tied for bronze with Lethbridge's Chris Alexander in a time of 22.78. Rookie
Addison Butler finished fifth in the men's A-final.
In the women's 400 IM, the Thunderbirds took the top-two spots, with Calgary's
Hannah Bennett finishing just shy of the podium in fourth. Dinos rookie
Kassua Dreyer set a new personal best of 4:55.49 to touch for fifth in the women's A-final, and
Mackenzie Wallich and
Emma Mitchell raced to third and fifth in the B-final, respectively.
Scoring maximum points in the men's 400 IM, the Dinos managed a clean sweep of the podium with
Nathan Versluys taking a commanding victory in a new personal best time of 4:17.35, ahead of teammates
Charlie Skalenda and
Richie Stokes picking up the silver and bronze for the Scarlett & Gold. In an exciting finish just one heat earlier,
Patrick McCloy and
Myles Wheeler stepped up to go 1-2 in the men's 400 IM B-final, where McCloy just out-touched Wheeler by 15-tenths of a second.
Xavier Pimentel touched for fourth in the B-final.
Second-year
Thomas McDonald powered to the wall in the men's 100 butterfly ahead of UBC's Keir Ogilvie and Justice Migneault to win gold with a time of 52.58, just nine-hundredths ahead of Ogilvie.
Ian Friesen finished seventh for the Dinos men.
Laura Albers picked up a sixth-place finish in the women's 100 butterfly after her rookie teammates
Kassua Dreyer and
Kyla Nelson went 1-2 in the B-final.
With a thrilling finish in the 200 backstroke,
Hannah Johnsen nearly grabbed the gold but had to settle for silver behind the University of Victoria's Lauren Crisp by just three hundredths of a second. Her time of 2:09.91 is a new lifetime best and the first time that she has broken the 2:10 barrier.
Nadine Daoud and
Avery Movold touched for fifth and sixth in the women's A-final.
In their re-match from the last conference championships,
Richie Stokes went head-to-head with UBC's Hugh McNeil and Blake Tierney and snagged the bronze behind the Thunderbird pair in a new lifetime best of 1:56.70.
Charlie Skalenda finished just off the podium in fourth, with Daniel Gerlach and
Sebastian Castillo touching for sixth and seventh, respectively.
Breaststroke specialists
Madison Macor and
Mackenzie Wallich rounded out the A-final of the women's 100 breaststroke in seventh and eighth right after
Isabella Duncan set a new personal best of 1:11.74 in the B-final, finishing 13th overall.
In the event that saw Apollo Hess of the Lethbridge Pronghorns set a new championship record of 58.55, Calgary's
Ian Cameron set a new lifetime best of 1:01.41 and finished just off the podium in fourth in the men's 100 breaststroke.
Matthew Gauthier raced to seventh.
Smith was golden once again notching another victory, this time in the women's 200 freestyle. Her time of 1:54.97 was over three seconds ahead of her next competitor. Rookie
Emily De Jager touched for fourth, closely followed by senior
Avery Movold.
The Dinos men stacked the A-final of the 200 freestyle and it paid off.
Paul McKenzie picked up his second individual medal of the championships – a silver with his time of 1:49.56, followed by teammate
Nathan Versluys who grabbed the bronze in 1:49.75.
Ian Friesen and
Liam Dennett rounded out the final for the men with Friesen touching for fifth and Dennett eighth.
Patrick McCloy finished tenth overall.
In the final event of the evening, the women's 400 freestyle relay team of
Eliza Housman,
Hannah Bennett,
Avery Movold and
Rebecca Smith celebrated their new championship record of 3:41.36 with gold. The previous record of 3:41.46 was set by the UBC Thunderbirds back in 2017.
Shortly after, the men's 400 freestyle relay team of
Daniel Boguski,
Stephen Calkins,
Liam Dennett and
Addison Butler touched for the win, but it was announced that the team was disqualified for a technical infraction, leaving the Thunderbirds to take the gold.
The final day of racing begins Saturday with preliminaries starting at 9 a.m., while the evening finals are scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
