CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team will look to regain form after getting swept at the hands of the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend. They will host the first place UBC Thunderbirds for a two game set at Father David Bauer Arena starting on Friday.
Friday's School Day Game matinee starts at 11 a.m., followed by another afternoon affair at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
SPECIAL TEAMS COMING UP BIG
Despite the Dinos' losing record to start the season, a bright spot has been the power play. Calgary sits second in power play tallies and fourth in power play percentage, which certainly helps add to their Canada West-leading 14 goals.
Riley Sheen and
Cain Franson have been a big part of the man advantage unit, each putting up two points.
CLEAN SHEEN
Second-year forward
Riley Sheen has impressed in the early goings of the 2018-19 season registering four goals on the season, already one goal behind his total from last year. His production has not only come from lighting the lamp but also setting up teammates
Cain Franson and
Graham Black for goals. Sheen has also contributed to the deadly Calgary power play, picking up a goal and an assist.
HUSKIES SCRATCHING THEIR WAY TO SWEEP
Last weekend, the Dinos strolled into newly-built Merlis Belsher Place for a two game set with the second-place Saskatchewan Huskies. The Huskies were able to sweep the tight series on the back of a shootout win and a two-goal third period to take the second match-up 3-2. The teams were close on the scoreboard nonetheless with Saskatchewan just edging out the Dinos 7-6 in goals for the weekend.

ON DECK
The Dinos will head down south for a date with the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Oct. 26 before returning back to Calgary on the 27th to complete the home and home series.
