Former Dinos ready to represent Canada at World League

| By:
CALGARY – Volleyball World League hits Calgary this weekend and the University of Calgary Dinos have a number of former players on the extended 22-player roster.

This weekend, Graham Vigrass and Ciaran McGovern will don the maple leaf for Canada when they face Team Finland at the Stampede Corral in a double header May 31 and June 1.

Both former Dinos were part of the University of Calgary's fourth CIS championship-winning men's volleyball team in 2010. At the championship, Vigrass was named the tournament MVP and the following year, the middle earned CIS Player of the Year honours and was nominated for the BLG Awards. In 2011, both Vigrass and setter McGovern won the Dinos their ninth Canada West championship.

Also on the extended roster includes Jay Blankenau and Chris Hoag. Both players were also part of the Dinos' championship teams in 2010 and 2011. Steve Gotch rounds out Calgary's representation on Team Canada's roster, but like Blankenau and Hoag, is not expected to see the floor this weekend.

Team Canada will face Team Finland at 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. On June 13-14, Canada will take on Belgium in Vancouver, before heading back to Alberta to play Australia in Edmonton, June 20-21.
