CALGARY –
Matthew Brown of the University of Calgary Dinos has been named to the Canada West Men's Volleyball All-Rookie Team, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
The 6-foot-4 setter from Sunnyside, Man., had a stellar first season in the Scarlet & Gold. Brown finished his first season in the loaded Canada West conference with 321 total assists. He also tallied 23 kills on the year, 20 total blocks and a pair of service aces in league play. Brown also played a big role in Calgary's Canada West play-in series win over city rival Mount Royal this past weekend, racking up a season-high 48 assists in the clinching game-three win. In that series alone, Brown contributed with 112 assists, 12 kills, 18 digs and three blocks.
Brown and the Dinos continue their playoff run this weekend with a best-of-three series in Vancouver against UBC, starting Thursday.
