BOX SCORE KAMLOOPS, B.C. — The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack came back from a 12-point loss in the third set to defeat the University of Calgary Dinos 3-2 (21-25, 26-24, 13-25, 25-14, 15-6) Friday afternoon at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops.
"I thought TRU out played us in the final two sets," stated Dinos head coach
Rod Durrant, whose team is now 1-2. "We had a great third set. We just stopped playing. Our serve/receive broke down in the last two sets."
Durrant felt his team fought hard in the first three sets. "I thought we were the better team in the first three sets. Not sure what happened after that. We didn't have an answer to their serving."
Calgayr was led by
Connor Frehlich who had13 kills in 47 opportunities, along with 14 digs.
Darcee Froese had eight kills in 19 chances and 10 digs, while
Jackson Maris added 11 digs
Durrant felt the match was just another chapter in a great history of Calgary/TRU match ups. The two teams will do battle again Saturday at the Tournament Capital Centre. Game time is 3:45 p.m. MT, live on CanadaWest.tv.
