Must-win time for Dinos

| By:
CALGARY – It seems that every week the Dinos field hockey team faces their most important series of the year.

Clinging to their playoff hopes after taking only one of four points from the UBC Thunderbirds last weekend, the Dinos have a short time to prepare before heading right back out west for a pair of games with the University of Victoria Vikes.

Calgary fell to UBC by a 2-0 score on Saturday, before coming back on Sunday to earn a 1-1 tie. Kaitlyn Longworth was the Dinos' goal scorer and has now potted four of the Dinos' eight goals this season.

Victoria easily defeated winless Alberta by scores of 2-0 and 3-0 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Stefanie Hatch found the net twice, while Kaitlyn Williams provided consecutive shutouts in goal.

The 3-3-2 Dinos trail both UBC and Victoria by four points entering the penultimate weekend of the regular season. They will need to take at least one point from the Vikes to ensure their following home series with Alberta has playoff implications. However, they will certainly be striving for much more.

One thing the Dinos have going for them is some positive mojo against Victoria. At home two weeks ago they scratched out an impressive win and a tie. They will look to continue their success against the Vikes this weekend when the teams meet Saturday and Sunday in Victoria at noon MT.
