Senior linebacker Chase Moore anchored a stifling defensive effort by the fourth-ranked University of Calgary Dinos in the early going of Saturday’s 49-22 rout of Simon Fraser.

Led by Moore’s 4.5 tackles in the first half, Calgary held the Clan to just three first downs, 12 rushing yards, and 103 total yards in the first 30 minutes. Moore recorded two more tackles in the second half before the Dinos gave playing time to their backups, bringing his game total to 6.5 from his weak-side linebacker position.

The effort moved Moore into a tie for third place in the conference with an average of 6.2 tackles per game, making him the Dinos’ leading tackler at the midway point of the 2009 season.

Calgary (3-1) visits UBC (1-3) Saturday afternoon in their first game at Thunderbird Stadium since 2006.
