CALGARY - Playing in his hometown and returning to his old stomping grounds at Mosaic Stadium,
Brett Wade was a force on the defensive line for the No. 5 University of Calgary Dinos Friday night.
Wade picked up three tackles, 2.5 of which were sacks, as the Dinos knocked off the Regina Rams 34-27. Two of the sacks the rookie defensive lineman was part of came in the fourth quarter of what turned out to be a tight game, including a key one on the final drive that helped slow the Rams' momentum and kept them out of the end zone for the game-tying touchdown.
Wade sits second in the conference with his 2.5 sacks through two weeks of the season.
The Dinos (2-0) face their toughest test of the young season Saturday night when they face the Saskatchewan Huskies (2-0) at McMahon Stadium.
Brandon Deschamps of UBC was named offensive player of the week while Saskatchewan's Denton Kolodzinski earned the special teams honours.
