THOROLD, Ont. – Five University of Calgary Dinos wrestlers brought home hardware from the 2026 Canadian U23 Wrestling Championships in Thorold, Ont. on Friday, highlighted by four gold medals.

Annika Fines, Gabriela Cross, Eve Maxwell-Nikiforuk and Nicholas Hooper each claimed national titles, while Angelina Ellis-Toddington rounded out the Dinos' podium haul with a bronze.

On the women's side, Fines took gold in the 62-kilogram category to add another title to her 2026 U SPORTS and Canada West championships. Fines was also named the 2026 U SPORTS Outstanding Wrestler of the Year.

Cross claimed gold in the 57-kilogram category, also adding to her 2026 U SPORTS and Canada West championships.

Maxwell-Nikiforuk secured gold in the 65-kilogram category, improving on her 2025 U SPORTS silver and Canada West bronze.

Ellis-Toddington earned a national bronze in the 68-kilogram class, following up her 2026 Canada West title.

On the men's side, Hooper returned tot he mat and took gold in the freestyle 74-kilogram division. He previously earned gold medals at the 2025 U SPORTS and Canada West championships.

By winning gold, Fines, Cross, Maxwell-Nikiforuk and Hooper each earned a spot on the national team for the 2026 U23 World Championships.
