RIO DE JANEIRO – Two University of Calgary Dinos wrestlers represented the university on the continental stage at the 2026 U20 Pan-American Wrestling Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 9-11, with Mackenzie Cayer leading the way with a bronze medal.

Cayer competed in the 68-kilogram event, going 2-2 overall and outscoring her opponents 25-18 across four bouts. She capped her tournament with a 10-2 victory over Mexico to claim the bronze.

Dinos teammate Clara Smithanik also took to the mat in the 76-kilogram class, picking up a victory over Brazil across four bouts of competition.

Canada's women's team finished third overall with 121 points, contributing to a final haul of 12 medals for Team Canada – six silver and one bronze on the men's side, and one silver and four bronze on the women's side.
