Beagan takes on new role within Dinos athletic department

CALGARY – After two seasons leading the University of Calgary Dinos field hockey program, head coach Jenn Beagan has been named the new Associate Athletic Director for Sport and Student Services, Dinos Director of Athletics Ben Matchett announced Wednesday.

Beagan will take over for Mike Boyles, who is retiring from the position after wrapping up a 36-year career within the Faculty of Kinesiology at UCalgary.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for our athletic department," Matchett said. "Jenn has quickly shown in her short time on campus that she has high aspirations, and we're thrilled for her as she transitions into helping our entire department."

A search for the Dinos field hockey head coach will begin immediately. Those interested about the position can learn more here.

A native of Calgary, Beagan was named the Dinos field hockey head coach in January of 2024. She has an extensive coaching career, including numerous roles within Field Hockey Canada.

Beagan played varsity field hockey at Kent State University where she was an all-region midfielder. Before that, she was a member of the Canadian Women's Under-21 team and captained the squad at the 2000 Commonwealth Youth Games.

Beagan holds a Bachelor of Science in Urban Design in 2004 and a Master of Architecture in 2006, both from Kent State. She completed her Advanced Coaching Diploma in 2019 through the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network and is an NCCP Level 3 Coach.
