CALGARY – As they prepare for their Canada West quarterfinal showdown later this weekend, three members of the University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey program were named to the Canada West All-Star squads, the league office announced Friday.
Adam Kydd was named to the conference's first team,
Carl Stankowski was named a second teamer, while
Hayden Pakkala earned a nod on the all-rookie squad.
It has been a breakout campaign for Kydd in his third and final season on the ice for the Dinos. The captain finished the regular season with 33 total assists – the most in all of U SPORTS in 2025-26. In fact, that total is tied for sixth most in program history and the most since Todd Johnson also had 33 helpers back in the 1995-96 campaign.
Kydd was named the WHL Grad of the Month back in October for his outstanding start to the season and finished the year with 41 total points – second most in Canada West and fourth most in the nation.
Stankowski had another tremendous season in the net in his final campaign as a Dino. The Calgary native made a career-high 16 starts and ranked second in the conference in save percentage (91.0%) and third in goals-against average (2.30). He also tied his career high with 10 wins on the year, finishing with a 10-4-1 record.
Once again being part of arguably the best goalie room in both the conference and the nation, Stankowski racked up 365 total saves and pitched a pair of shutouts. This is the second all-league honour for Stankowski, after being named to the all-rookie team following the 2021-22 season.
Pakkala was a big impact in his first year on the ice for the Dinos. The 6-foot-1 forward played in all 28 games in his first university season – one of just seven players to play in every game this season. A native of nearby Okotoks, Alta., Pakkala led this year's team with 15 goals – tying him for the most by a rookie in all of Canada West. He also added 11 assists on the year for 26 total points – third most among conference rookies. Pakkala also notched three game-winning goals for the Dinos, which finished tied for third most among all skaters in this year's CW ranks.
He has already played a big role in the postseason, as well, tallying five points – two goals and three assists – in the opening two-game sweep at MacEwan.
Calgary is set for yet another chapter in the Crowchild Classic rivalry series as the Dinos get set to take on Mount Royal in a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal, starting Friday.
