University of Calgary Fall Victim To University of Saskatchewan Rally
Despite leading by as many as five runs, University of Calgary fell to University of Saskatchewan 10-6 on Saturday morning in Saskatoon.
Dinos got on the board in the top of the second inning after
Hallie Miller singled, scoring two runs,
Katie Berg singled, scoring one run, and
Angelina Hargreaves doubled, scoring two runs. The team added one run in the third after
Brooklyn Bianchini singled.
University of Saskatchewan flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring eight runs on six hits to take the lead, 10-6.
Alexis Luttmerding took the loss, the southpaw went one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking two.
Kate Gross started in the circle, the hurler gave up seven hits and six runs over three and one-third innings.
Bianchini, Hargreaves, and
Chloe Kinghorn each collected two hits for University of Calgary. Miller and Hargreaves each drove in two runs,
Manyika Reyes led the Dinos with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying four walks for the game.
University of Calgary Walk It Off Against University of Saskatchewan
Dinos took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over University of Saskatchewan in the 2
nd game of the double header. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run.
A tag up by
Manyika Reyes put the team on the board in the bottom of the second, and a single by Reyes extended the Dinos lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Madison Belden earned the win, the starting pitcher allowed 11 hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking none.
The Dinos amassed 13 hits in the game. Reyes and
Olivia Goertz were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits while hitting back-to-back.
Parker Huot, Reyes, and
Emily Friedt each drove in one run for University of Calgary.
Angelina Hargreaves collected two hits in four at bats.
Strong Hitting Not Enough As University of Calgary Falls To University of Lethbridge
University of Calgary fell 10-7 to University of Lethbridge on Saturday afternoon despite out-hitting them 14 to nine.
Emily Friedt and
Katie Berg each collected three hits for the Dinos.
The team captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when Friedt singled, scoring one run, and
Angelina Hargreaves homered to left field, scoring two runs and took the lead, 6-3, in the bottom of the second thanks to singles by Berg, Friedt, and
Chloe Kinghorn.
University of Lethbridge flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-6.
Mia Pielak took the loss, the righty went three innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
Anna Forbes stepped in the circle first for University of Calgary. The starter surrendered four hits and five runs over three innings.
The Dinos collected 14 hits in the game. Hargreaves drove the middle of the lineup, leading the team with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
Brooklyn Bianchini collected two hits in four at bats.
Bottom Of The Lineup Carries University of Calgary Past University of Regina
The bottom of the lineup helped Dinos capture an 8-0 victory over University of Regina Sunday morning in Saskatoon.
Hallie Miller,
Manyika Reyes, and
Madison Belden combined for four of the team's eight hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in four.
The Dinos got on the board in the top of the third inning after

Four more Dino runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 8-0. Miller singled, scoring one run, and Belden homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Belden earned the win, the starting pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Belden led the team with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Miller and Goertz each collected two hits, Reyes paced University of Calgary with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. The Dinos were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
University of Calgary Fall To University of Regina After Surrendering Big First Inning
Regina defeated University of Calgary 9-1 on Sunday in the 2
nd game of the double header thanks in part to five runs in the first inning.
Alexis Luttmerding took the loss for the Dinos, the pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits, striking out one and walking two.

Chloe Kinghorn each collected one hit for the team. Bianchini led the team with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.
Dinos will travel to Lethbridge this weekend where they will take on the teams from UBCO, MRU and SAIT as the Dinos build for the WCSA playoffs and hosting the National championships October 10 - 12.
