The Dinos fastball team travelled to Saskatoon for WCSA week #5 competition September 27 - 28 where they played five games against the University of Saskatchewan, Lethbridge and Regina.
University of Calgary Victorious Over University of Saskatchewan
University of Calgary ousted University of Saskatchewan 8-3 on Saturday in Saskatoon.
University of Saskatchewan got on the board in the first inning after Makenna Pilbeam singled, scoring one run. The Dinos flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by
Emily Friedt that drove in two. Dinos scored one run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to center field by
Parker Huot following a 7-pitch at-bat.
Madison Belden earned the win, the starter gave up seven hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking four.
Brooklyn Bianchini and Friedt were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the team. Bianchini and
Chloe Kinghorn each collected two hits for the team. The team turned one double play in the game.
University of Calgary Loses Despite Out Hitting University of Saskatchewan
Even though University of Calgary collected seven hits to University of Saskatchewan's five, they still fell 6-4 in the 2nd game of the double header.
Brooklyn Bianchini and
Parker Huot each collected two hits for the Dinos.
Dinos made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the third after Emma Maurice induced
Emily Friedt to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Bianchini singled, scoring two runs.
Anna Forbes took the loss for University of Calgary. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out five.
Bianchini provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Dinos with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Dinos turned one double play in the game.

University of Calgary bested University of Lethbridge 8-4 on Saturday in Saskatoon.
The Dinos jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after
Hallie Miller doubled, scoring two runs,
Angelina Hargreaves singled, scoring one run, and
Madison Belden doubled, scoring two runs. The team added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after
Mackenna Meyer singled down the left field line,
Brooklyn Bianchini doubled down the left field line, and Miller singled to left field, each scoring one run.
Alexis Luttmerding earned the win, the left-handed pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two.
The Dinos accumulated 12 hits in the game. Miller provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the team with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day.
Manyika Reyes led the Dinos with three hits in four at bats. Bianchini and Meyer each collected multiple hits.
Brooklyn Bianchini Drives In 5 To Lead University of Calgary Past University of Regina
Brooklyn Bianchini drove in five runs on two hits to lead the Dinos past the Cougars 15-1 on Sunday. Bianchini hit a grand slam to left field in the second inning, scoring four runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring one.
The Dinos got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bianchini singled to center field, and the Dinos scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Five more Dino runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-1. An error scored one run, and Bianchini hit a grand slam to left field.
The team scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning.
Madison Belden singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and
Hallie Miller singled, scoring two runs.
Belden earned the win, the righty allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two.
The team collected 12 hits in the game. Belden, the number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats.
Angelina Hargreaves collected two hits for University of Calgary in four at bats.
Katie Berg stole two bases. The had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating four walks for the game. The. Dinos were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
Angelina Hargreaves's Strong Eye Leads University of Calgary Past University of Regina
Angelina Hargreaves showed a strong eye at the plate on Sunday, as Hargreaves walked three times while leading University of Calgary to an 11-9 victory over University of Regina.
The team built a 5-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off University of Regina's charge. University of Regina closed the gap by scoring on a double and a single. The Dino's flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by
Mia Pielak that drove in two. Hargreaves homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Pielak earned the win, the hurler gave up six hits and six runs over four innings, striking out two and walking three.
Kate Gross appeared in relief for University of Calgary.
The team collected 11 hits in the game.

Mackenna Meyer collected two hits each. Pielak,
Hallie Miller, Hargreaves, and
Katie Berg each drove in two runs. Hargreaves paced University of Calgary with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. The team turned one double play in the game and were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
The Dinos now move on to the WCSA conference playoffs as they prepare to host the national championships the following week.
