CALGARY –
Jadon Joseph is the latest recent graduate from the University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey program to sign on to play at the next level after the Indy Fire announced they have signed Joseph to a standard player contract for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The 26-year-old heads to Indianapolis after three standout seasons on the ice with the Dinos. Joseph came to Calgary after initially starting his collegiate career at Trinity Western before transferring and helping lead the Dinos to three straight postseason appearances and the program's first Canada West crown since 1996. He graduates playing in 83 total games (regular and postseason), tallying 42 assists and 14 goals – three of which proved to be game winners.
Joseph grabbed the headlines in his debut season with Calgary by breaking the Canada West record for the fastest hat trick in conference history – ironically doing so against his former team. The 6-foot-1 forward scored three times in just a 1:26 span in the second period of a 5-2 win over TWU back on Nov. 19, 2022, shattering the previous record of 5:17 that had stood for six seasons.
The Sherwood Park, Alta., product was a big part of the Dinos success the past few seasons, helping Calgary win the conference championship in 2023 and finish runners-up one year later. Calgary also advanced to the U SPORTS national championship tournament – the U CUP – both of those seasons, marking the first back-to-back trips to nationals for the Dinos since doing so in 1995 and 1996. The Dinos won a program record 25 games during the 2022-23 season and broke the conference record for consecutive wins, racking up an incredible 27 straight victories spanning the two seasons. In all, Calgary won 62 regular season games during Joseph's three seasons in the Scarlet & Gold – the most in a three-year span under current head coach
Mark Howell.
Before beginning his collegiate career, Joseph spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He played three seasons for the Lethbridge Hurricanes from 2016 to 2019 before moving on to the Regina Pats, Vancouver Giants, Moose Jaw Warriors, Kelowna Rockets, and Tri-City Americans.
The Indy Fuel compete in the ECHL and are an affiliates to the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) and Rockford Icehogs (AHL). This past year, the Fuel finished with a 32-30-5-5 record to earn a playoff spot. The team returns to the ice for its 12th season in October.
