CALGARY – Graduating forward
Colson Gengenbach of the University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team has signed an Amateur Tryout Contract with the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose.
Gengenbach recently completed his fourth year with the Dinos, leading the team in scoring for the second consecutive season. In 26 regular season games this year, he registered 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points. Gengenbach was named a Canada West All-Star for the second year in a row, earning a spot on the conference's second team.
In addition to competing for the Dinos, Gengenbach represented Canada in January at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy. In seven tournament games, he tallied a tournament-best eight goals and three assists for 11 points and scored the game-winning goal in the gold-medal game.
Gengenbach joined the Dinos in 2021 after playing parts of five seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. After recording a single assist in his first season at UCalgary, the five-foot-nine forward broke out offensively during the 2022-23 season with nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points and helped the Dinos to their first Canada West championship since 1996. In 2023-24, Gengenbach was named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian and led the Dinos to their second consecutive appearance at the University Cup national championship.
Gengenbach finishes his collegiate career with 43 goals and 41 assists for 84 points in 96 games.
Manitoba, the primary affiliate for the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets ranks seventh in the AHL's Central Division. They play their next game on Saturday, Mar. 1 versus the Toronto Marlies.
