Chloe Maher's Clutch Hitting Propels University of Calgary To Victory Over Mount Royal University.
Chloe Maher drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Dinos past Mount Royal University 15-6 on Saturday at Shouldice Athletic Park. Maher hit a sacrifice fly in the first scoring one, singled in the second scoring one, singled in the third scoring one, and hit a solo home run to right field in the fourth scoring one.
The Dinos won thanks in part to eight runs in the third inning.
Leah Weinkauf homered to left field, scoring two runs, Maher singled, scoring one run,
Chloe Kinghorn hit a grand slam to center field, and a wild pitch scored one run.
University of Calgary got on the board in the first inning after Maher hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
The Dinos flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 6-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by
Emily Friedt that drove in one. The Dinos scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to right field by Maher.
Mia Pielak earned the win for University of Calgary. The righty gave up four hits and four runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none.
Anna Forbes stepped in the circle first for University of Calgary. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four.
University of Calgary tallied 12 hits in the game.
McKenna Regier collected two hits for the team in three at bats. Dinos had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

Despite leading by as many as nine runs, University of Calgary fell to University of Regina 16-12 on Saturday in an extra inning. Despite the loss, the Dinos did collect 14 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, University of Regina had 15 hits on the way to victory.
University of Calgary were the first to get on the board in the first when
Chloe Maher homered to center field, scoring two runs. The team scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning.
Katie Berg singled, scoring one run,
McKenna Regier singled, scoring one run,
Gabriela Coderre doubled, scoring two runs, and
Chloe Kinghorn grounded out, scoring one run.
Dinos added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after University of Regina committed an error, Regier singled, and Maher doubled, each scoring one run.
University of Regina flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 12-10. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Merceydes Therrien that drove in two.
Berg singled, which helped University of Calgary tie the game at 12 in the bottom of the sixth.

Dinos opened the scoring in the second after
Emily Friedt hit a solo home run to center field. University of Lethbridge captured the lead, 4-1, in the top of the third after Brynlee Rice grounded out, Cadence Penner walked, Katelyn Jeglum singled, and Molly Mitchell singled, each scoring one run.
University of Calgary jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after
Gabriela Coderre doubled,
Chloe Kinghorn doubled,
Mia Pielak singled, and Friedt doubled, each scoring one run.
Dinos added to their lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to home runs by
Chloe Maher and Pielak.
Madison Belden earned the win for University of Calgary. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking none.

Dinos accumulated 12 hits in the game. Friedt led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Pielak and Friedt were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for the Dinps. Coderre collected two hits in three at bats.

Dinos lose in an extra inning despite out-hitting UBCO 10 to eight.

Kinghorn singled, which helped University of Calgary tie the game at one in the top of the second.
UBC Okanagan took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Lamb hit a solo home run to right field, to give UBC Okanagan the leg up, 2-1.

The game was not without controversy. In the 4
th inning UBCO hit a ground rule double that the umpires called a home run after the ball bounced in front of and over the fence.
Bronze medal game vs UofR W-7-3
Chloe Maher hit two home runs and drove in five as the Dinos defeated University of Regina 7-3 on Sunday in the WCSA Championship bronze medal game. Maher homered in the fifth and seventh innings.
University of Regina got on the board in the first inning after Madilynn Geiss singled, scoring one run.
In the top of the second inning, Dinos went back into the lead after
Mia Pielak doubled, and
Leah Weinkauf singled, each scoring one run.
A grand slam to center field by Maher gave University of Calgary the lead, 6-3, in the top of the fifth. Maher hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh for the University of Calgary.
