CALGARY – For the first time in Canada West history, all-stars have been named from Women's Rugby 7s.
Second-year back
Delaney Aikens and third-year forward
Julia Omokhuale were both selected as first team all-stars from the University of Calgary Dinos.
Aikens led the Dinos in scoring with 15 tries across the three-tournament campaign. She was also successful on six converts. The Briercrest, Sask., native ranked fourth in the conference in scoring (87 points) and third in tries. Aikens was named to tournament Dream Teams in Victoria and Vancouver.
A product of Calgary, Omokhuale was dominant in the first tournament of the 7s season, scoring six tries in Edmonton. She finished the season with 10 tries and was one of six players in the conference to reach double-digits. In addition to being a unanimous selection for the tournament Dream Team in Edmonton, Omokhuale also earned the honour in Victoria.
Calgary earned a team bronze medal for the 2023 Canada West Women's Rugby 7s season, compiling 32 points across the three tournaments.
