CALGARY – The wait is finally over for the University of Calgary women's hockey team. After 608 days without getting to play on their home ice, the Dinos officially kick off the 2021-22 regular season this weekend, playing host to the MacEwan University Griffins.

The weekend series kicks off Friday at 7 p.m., before wrapping things up Saturday at 6 p.m.

SEASON OPENER
Calgary officially opened up Canada West play last weekend, and although the trip to Manitoba finished without a win, there were still plenty of positives from the first two games. The Dinos offence especially will be something to watch as it racked up six goals over the opening two contests, including finding the back of the net in five of the six first periods.

PRE-SEASON RECAP
The Dinos finished up the 2021 pre-season with plenty of positives to take into the regular season. The team tallied three wins and proved they could compete in tight games, earning a pair of their non-conference wins in overtime.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
10 players are starting their first year with the team, while forward Elizabeth Lang leads the team with three points (1g, 2a) to start the season on a high note.

• The Dinos and Griffins met once during the preseason, with Calgary earning a 5-4 overtime win.

 
UP NEXT
The Dinos will continue their homestand next weekend when they host the crosstown rival Mount Royal Cougars. The Cougars will come to Father David Bauer Arena for a weekend set, starting Friday at 7 p.m.
