First-place Dinos host UBC

CALGARY – After a month off for the winter break, the University of Calgary Dinos are back to action this weekend against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

The Dinos' first games of 2020 will take place on Friday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at Father David Bauer Arena with the rematch taking place Saturday at 3 p.m.

STARTING THE YEAR IN FIRST
After sweeping the University of Regina in their final games of 2019, the Dinos start this New Year in first place with 33 points in Canada West (1-4-1-1), four points ahead of the second-place Alberta and Saskatchewan. UBC sits in fourth at 7-5-1-3 with 26 points, entering the weekend on a four-game losing streak.

CONTINUE THE SURGE
The Dinos will look to improve on their first half success as they head into the final eight games on the season. The Dinos went 7-0-1 in their last games eight games before the break. 

IMPRESSIVE PRODUCTION
Elizabeth Lang and Sara Craven are both among the top 10 in Canada West for points. The line of Lang, Craven and Delaney Frey has been impressive from the first games of the season, combining for 38 points so far on the campaign. Rookie pickups Trechelle Bunn and Rebecca Clarke have been adding depth to this Dinos team.

  • The Thunderbirds celebrated their 2018-19 alumna Brie Bellerive for joining the pro ranks in Sweden over the winter break.
  • Kelsey Roberts has the second highest save percentage among goalies in Canada West with .944.

UP NEXT
After this weekend's matchup against UBC, the Dinos will make their way to Winnipeg to meet with the University of Manitoba Bisons next weekend at the Wayne Fleming Arena. The Dinos will stay on the road the following weekend before returning home to face Alberta Jan. 24.
