CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team looks to continue its strong start to the season at home this weekend as they get set to host the University of Saskatchewan Huskies for a two game set.
The opening contest is set to get going on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. with the back end of the series set for Saturday at 6 p.m. Both games will take place at Father David Bauer Arena. Live streaming coverage is available on CanadaWest.tv presented by Co-op.
BATTLING THE BISONS
After dropping the first game against the University of Manitoba Bisons, head coach
Danielle Goyette in typical fashion did some shaking up of the line combinations for game two of the series and it paid off. The Dinos found the scoresheet twice to edge out their opponents in a 2-1 victory to get the split.
HOT OUT OF THE GATES
The Dinos have definitely been one of the most surprising teams in Canada West after being ranked last in the preseason poll. After last weekends split against Manitoba, the team improves to 4-2-0-0, good enough for third in the league after three weeks of play. The win total for the Dinos currently sits at four, only one behind last season's overall total.
PRODUCTION FROM ALL AROUND
Calgary is getting production from new faces to help get in the scoring column, something that we haven't seen over the past couple seasons. Both
Annaliese Meier and
Dana Wood scored their first career goals on Saturday to help their team to a 2-0 win.
