Fastball finishes first in pool play, advances to Nationals Semi-Final

The University of Calgary Dinos Fastball team were victorious in their final two pool play games at the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association national championships as they finished first in Pool B and earned a berth in the semi-finals. Dinos have been playing exceptional team ball as they have hit the ball well and pitching has controlled their opposition.

Dinos opened the championships with a 9 - 2 victory over the Western University Mustangs. They followed that up with a victory over the University of Saskatchewan in their second game on Friday.  Maddie Markey got the win on the mound for the Dinos as the offence scored eleven runs in the first inning as the Dinos went on to take the game 15 - 5 in four innings.

Saturday morning saw the Dinos play the Durham College Lords in cool and windy conditions. The weather did not slow down the hot Dinos as they scored two in the first inning and kept the pressure on Durham throughout the game as they won by a score of 12 - 3. With the victory the Dinos finished first in Pool B with a 3 - 0 record and a bye into the National Semi-finals to be held on Sunday at 11:00am EST
