Dinos take 13-game win streak into playoffs at home

CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team is set to play in the playoffs, the Canada West quarter-final, this upcoming weekend at McMahon Stadium.

The home game on Sunday, Oct 28, begins 12 p.m., against Saskatchewan or Victoria.

The Huskies and the Vikes will face off Friday afternoon at McMahon in a first-round playoff game, with the winner advancing to face the Dinos Sunday. That game also kicks off at noon MT.

RECORDS BEING MADE
The Dinos are entering the quarter finals with a record set by goalie Lauren Houghten setting a new Canada West single-season record of 11 shutouts and 13 victories on the year.

The Dinos also finished their regular season games with an outstanding 13-1, with one loss that occurred in the first game to the Pandas. Maddison Fritze also contributed to the wins with nine goals to finish off the regular season.

The four quarter-final winners will advance to the Canada West Final Four at the Pacific Division champion Nov. 2-4.

QUOTABLE
Coach Flannery stated in the most recent game against the Pandas that "It was a great day … I don't think it was our best effort of the season, but in the end it turned out to be a great day. That was a fired-up Alberta team, very difficult to play against. I thought the ladies in white today battled hard.

"This is a very difficult league, and to finish first in Canada West...it doesn't matter once Monday rolls around as we get into the playoffs, but right now we'll celebrate these successes."
