Playoff push ramps up against Pandas

| By:
CALGARY – After stumbling out of the gate last weekend against the UBC Thunderbirds, the University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team will try to improve their playoff hopes in a home-and-home series against the dangerous Alberta Pandas this weekend, Jan. 12-13.

Last weekend was a tough one for the Dinos as they struggled to get shots on goal and were shutout in back-to-back games. Goaltender Kelsey Roberts surrendered only four goals during a busy two games between the pipes. She has started 16 of the 18 games played this season and will be relied on again against Albert. Roberts not only has a sparkling 1.53 GAA and a 955 SV%, she also tops Canada West with five shutouts.

"Right now, she is our best player. If we did not have her we would not be in the position we are in right now," said Dinos bench boss Danielle Goyette. "It is because she gives us a chance to win every night. If she is not the best goalie in Canada West or U SPORTS right now, she is not that far off."

Sitting sixth with 20 points, the Dinos are 12 points behind fourth-placed Alberta.  The Pandas are one of the most dangerous offensive teams in Canada West and have 12 different goal scorers including Autumn MacDougall, who leads all of Canada West with 16 points (8G, 8A).
