Dinos wrap up regular season with shutout win

| By:
BOX SCORE CALGARY – Bronwyn Stevens scored twice and Hayley Dowling recorded the shutout as the University of Calgary Dinos wrapped up their regular season with a 4-0 win over the Mount Royal Cougars Friday night.

Jessica Holt and Chelsea Peterson also scored for the playoff-bound Dinos, who wrap up the year with a 12-14-2 record.

One night removed from the Crowchild Classic at the Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary picked up right where they left off notching the opening goal 7:07 into the game. Bronwyn Stevens buried a pass from Kitti Trencsenyi to give the Dinos a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

The second period got a little rough as five minors were doled out, four of which went to Calgary. MRU couldn't find the back of the net on any of the power plays and Calgary made them pay. Stevens sniped her second of the evening from Erika Mistchke and Megan Grenon at 15:30. The Dinos led 2-0 heading into the third period.

Jessica Holt potted another for the Dinos on a feed from Sarah Astle to give the Dinos a 3-0 advantage. Nothing was going right for the Cougars on this night and they just couldn't get anything going on offense. Chelsea Peterson scored a late power play goal for the Dinos and that was it.  The Cougars dropped their season finale 4-0.

Mount Royal finishes the season with a record of 7-18-3.

The Dinos, who clinched a playoff spot Thursday, await their first-round opponent and will head on the road in a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal next weekend.
